Basic English


This course enables the students to build on their basic skills in English. We customize the course dependent on the prior experience of the students. The course aims to develop the skills of students who have limited knowledge of the English Language. The arte taught in very small group of 3-6 students.

Course details:

Classes are held 3-4 days a week. Each class is 2 hours long

Reading:

This encompasses understanding short paragraphs, reading for understanding the basic meaning, using images to help enhance the meaning. Vocabulary is developed with the help of reading and other discussion classes on reading

Writing:

Students start with writing simple sentences. The main focus is on constructing correct sentences following the basic sentence structure. Using correct spellings and tenses are emphasized. Compound sentences are introduced later on the course, only with the use of conjunctions.

The main aspects are: Sentence construction, Completing phrases, Understanding sentence structure, Improving basic sentences, Writing groups of sentences, Making meaningful short paragraphs

Grammar:

Parts of Speech-main focus on nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives and adverbs, Tenses, Simple Prepositions and conjunction revisited

Listening:

Students get introduced to basic English monologues and dialogues in a number of different aspects. They listen to comprehend the main idea of the talk and focus less on individual items. These are very important skills for people in all walks of lives and help them tackle situation easily in this competitive era.

Speaking:

Students are encouraged to speak confidently along with the use of correct pronunciation. There is group discussion, , individual speaking practice, practicing short monologues and some role playing tasks. It is a fun was to learn to speak the English language and learn to overcome the fear of the language.

 

 Intermediate English Course Plan


SPOKEN ENGLISH

Course Details:

Classes are held 2 -4 days a week. Each class is 2 hours long. The classes are interactive and focus mostly on speaking with some focus on grammar and reading.

The topics covered include:

Constructing Sentences, Paragraphs, Giving detailed description and comparisons, Monologues, Role Playing, Words visualization, Word discussion, Weekly/Monthly assessments and review.

This course enables the students to build on their basic English skills or improve their present skills. The focus of this course is on all aspects of the English language.

The course aims to boost up the confidence of students as writers and speakers of the language. It can be extremely beneficial for both academic and professional purposes.

Review of Basic English

Reading:

This encompasses understanding long paragraph on a variety of topics. It helps students build their vocabulary. It also teaches them to respond to questions and analyse situation based on what they have read.

Writing:

Students move on from paragraphing writing and writing simple sentences to constructing small paragraphs and essays. They experiment with a variety of sentence lengths and learn to use new words effectively. They learn to identify and write topic sentence, supporting statements, thesis statement and work their way through to writing well formed essays.

Grammar:

After completing the basic grammar review in two to three lessons, students move on to more crucial parts of grammar.

They work on :Active and Passive Voice, Direct and Indirect Speech, Subject Verb Agreement, Prepositions and Phrasal Prepositions, Conjunctions

Listening:

Students get accustomed to lectures, monologues, dialogues, dialogues and all types of conversation being conducted in English. They get accustomed to listening to different accents and dialects. They also get to use their listen skills to improve their note taking skills. These are very important skills for both students and professionals.
